The pavilion in the recreation ground was built by village residents and used for many years by the Ickford football team. Unfortunately, after the football club ceased to exist, the pavilion started to deteriorate. With no income coming in to pay for maintenance and utilities, the Parish Council were faced with the challenge of how to make the pavilion ‘earn its keep’ whilst providing a facility that the whole community could enjoy.
In December 2017 we were awarded with a £10,000 grant from the Big Lottery Fund to go towards refurbishing the pavilion into a community space, and a further £1000 grant from Aylesbury Vale District Council’s New Homes Bonus Micro Grant Fund to purchase furniture and crockery.
The pavilion is now ready for action and can be hired by village residents, groups and institutions for small meetings and community events. To hire the pavilion please call Louise on 01844 339613, or email firstname.lastname@example.org .
A coffee morning is held in the pavilion on a Monday morning from 10am – 12pm. Everyone is welcome for hot drinks and cakes for a small donation; you will also be able to browse the books available in our ‘Community Book Swap’.
A volunteer run ‘Cafe in the Park’ is run after school 1-2 nights a week (term time only, not in winter months) where drinks and small snacks are available. All profits go towards the maintenance of the building.
The pavilion is managed on behalf of the Parish Council by a Pavilion Committee, we meet bimonthly on the second Wednesday of the month at 2pm. If you would like more information or you are interested in joining the committee, please get in touch on the details above.
